Who We Are

At Backcountry Lens, we find our passion and purpose in the wild heart of Wisconsin, capturing the raw beauty of its landscapes and wildlife—from misty Northwoods mornings to soaring eagles over the Mississippi River. We’re not just photographers; we’re storytellers fueled by the thrill of the wild, patiently seeking out the golden light on deer, the call of loons over still lakes, and the quiet moments that reveal nature’s soul. Every image we create is a tribute to Wisconsin’s rich natural heritage and a call to protect it. Through our lens, we aim to inspire others to see the magic in their own backyards and preserve it for generations to come—because at Backcountry Lens, the wild spirit of Wisconsin lives on, one frame at a time.

Tristan Harris

Wildlife Photographer

Hi! I’m Tristan Harris and I'm a Wildlife photographer/product photographer. Ever since I was a kid running through the woods, I’ve been captivated by the beauty of nature and the wildlife that calls it home. That curiosity sparked my journey into photography—a passion driven by a deep love for animals and a mission to raise awareness about endangered species. From my 15-year-old cat to the birds I see each morning, animals have always inspired me, and I strive to capture that wonder through my lens in a way that helps others feel connected to the natural world. I’ve explored all 48 continental U.S. states, Hawaii, Canada and Central America, with my love of travel continuing to push me toward new places, cultures, and wildlife. Photography, for me, is more than a craft—it’s a powerful way to tell stories, inspire change, and create meaningful, lasting images for those who share a love for nature. My goal is to share that passion not only in the present, but for generations to come. If my work resonates with you, I’d love for you to explore more or connect.
